Dubai, United Arab Emirates: For Immediate Release: 25th February 2015. Dubai is set to become home to the Middle East’s first tropical Rainforest, as the Emirate continues its drive to attract tourism from all over the world.

The tropical ecosystem has been announced by leading luxury developer DAMAC Properties. The educational and cultural dome will be housed within the company’s AKOYA Oxygen master development community as one of the premium attractions within an expansive retail and entertainment zone.

The Dubai Rainforest will be completed ahead of the World Expo 2020 taking place in the Emirate, and will become a key attraction within Dubai’s integrated tourism plans. The project will join attractions such as the varied theme parks coming on-line, in addition to the world’s tallest fountain, the Palm Jumeirah, the Dubai Eye and the Dubai Aquarium as Dubai looks to welcome at least 20 million tourists a year by 2020.

The Dubai Rainforest will sit adjacent to the Trump World Golf Clubhouse, part of an open-air walkway of high-end retail and entertainment offering, for residents and visitors to the AKOYA by DAMAC community.

AKOYA Oxygen is one of the most talked about master plans currently under development in Dubai. Spread across 55 million sq ft within Dubailand, AKOYA Oxygen will be a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The second phase of the project is currently available for investment, with villas and townhouses available within the green environment. The project is set around the Trump World Golf Club, Dubai – an 18-hole Championship-standard golf course, which is under design by world-famous golfer, Tiger Woods and will be managed by the Trump Organisation.

The retail and entertainment centre will be the fulcrum of the AKOYA Oxygen development, housing the golf course clubhouse, the Dubai Rainforest and a selection of retail and restaurant outlets.

The Dubai Rainforest will recreate the natural environment experienced in the heart of the deepest rainforests, which cover 6% of the earth’s surface. The tall, dense jungle environment will be fully recreated with many plants species integrated into the iconic dome structure. DAMAC Properties will ensure the integrity of the project is a natural representation of the environment through collaborations with leading Amazonian rainforest experts.

“The Dubai Rainforest will be a tropical wonderland, which tourists, residents and school groups can immerse themselves in and inspire a new generation,” added El Chaar.

Visitors will be taken on a journey through the jungle, starting out on the ground level, before climbing into the canopy, learning about the flora and fauna throughout the habitat. Those with a thrill for heights will be able to fly through the treetops on a zip wire offering stunning bird’s eye views of the environment. Those with a more serene temperament will be able to laze back within the peaceful surrounds of the Rainforest spa, offering hydrothermal treatments among the rock pools and steam baths.

The Dubai Rainforest will also incorporate all of the latest outdoor and exploration equipment with a natural-looking rock face climbing wall set within the abundant nature.

The Dubai Rainforest will also be opened to the true romantics, looking for a very unique wedding environment. Couples will be able to exchange vows in a beautiful Rainforest clearing, followed by a sumptuous feast with the wedding party.

As of December 31st 2014, DAMAC Properties has delivered almost 13,000 homes and has a development portfolio of over 38,000 units at various stages of progress and planning. Included are more than 10,000 hotel rooms and serviced hotel apartments under development, which will be managed by its hospitality arm, DAMAC Hotels & Resorts.

The Budget is exciting and needs to be studied in depth.  But overall there is a clear approach on infrastructure and growth.  As far as the realty sector is concerned the following announcement encourages and helps the sector:

  • Skill Mission enhancement,- which will bring in enhanced skilled work force.
  • Regulatory reform for infrastructure,
  • Single window clearance-
  • Increase in allocation of infrastructure fund,
  • Road outlay, Rural & Urban housing,
  • Rationalized Capital Gains Regime For REITs/InvITs
  • Wealth tax abolition-
  • Corporate tax reduction in a phased manner
  • Tightened Reporting Of Cash Transactions and
  • Reduced customs duty on 22 items

Some of the issues that are not addressed or not clear are:

  • GST roll out. The delay will put certain impediment on individual state taxes, since there are challenges at present.
  • Clear policy on Smart Cities.
  • Excise duty increase, which will increase cost of inputs.
  • Increase of service tax rate to 14% from 12.36%- The sector is looking for relief from this tax.
  • There seems to be a good approach to the overall economy.  The Real estate sector benefits from all budget related activity and 2015 looks very promising.​

It is a good growth oriented budget, with special emphasis on infrastructure, Swacch Bharat, introduction of pension schemes, curbing black money & improving ease of doing business. But as far as Housing industry is concerned, there is no special encouragement inspite of ‘Housing for All’ vision. To that extent for our industry, the budget is disappointing.

CREDAI puts forth pre-Budget charter before CM


Bangalore, February 23, 2015: CREDAI Karnataka met the Karnataka Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah recently in response to the invitation from the State Government for a pre-budget interaction with various Industry bodies, to present the industry body’s pre-Budget charter to the government. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The CREDAI delegation, which met the CM, was led by Mr Nagaraj Reddy, President – CREDAI Karnataka, Mr C.N. Govindaraju, President – CREDAI Bengaluru, Mr Suresh Hari, Secretary – CREDAI Bengaluru, Mr Anil Nayak, CEO – CREDAI Bengaluru, and also included a few member builders.

The meeting was also attended by the State revenue department officials including the Inspector General of Revenue – Stamps.

According to Mr Suresh Hari, the main submission to the CM was regarding stamp duty being levied on joint development agreement. “Due to high stamp duty on this instrument without any cap on maximum, which was there earlier, it is becoming more and more difficult to do projects on joint development. We have requested the Hon’ble CM to bring back the cap on maximum so that more projects can be done with the available resources,” he explained.

Pre-Budget charter

The CREDAI delegation also requested the Chief Minister to have proper checks and balances in place to protect customers from being cheated by unscrupulous elements on multiple registration. “We have also requested that the sub-registrar’s office be modernised with better facilities for both customers and officials, and better working condition. Overall, we have requested the Hon’ble CM to look into the multiple taxations on the real estate sector which is ultimately borne by the buyers,” added Mr Suresh Hari.

He said that the Hon’ble CM was requested to facilitate meeting with various departments on a round table discussion to address issues affecting the real estate industry. “After hearing to the representation, the CM assured us that he will look into the charter and do his best,” he added.

Richa Industries Limited Receives Rs. 26 Crore order from Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Ltd


New Delhi,  17 February 2015: Richa Industries Limited, a leading Construction & Engineering company has secured an order for its PEB division approximately worth INR 260 million from Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Ltd (BSBCCL) to construct Warehouses at different locations in the state of Bihar.

The Project involves the construction of seven Warehouses with the capacity of 5000 MT each at the location of Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Jamui Begusarai and Khagaria. The complete scope of work entails Engineering Design, Fabrication, Shipment, Erection and Commissioning of  the building. Richa has to complete the project in 10 months.
